Just east on the Sunrise Trail you'll find the Seafoam Woodturning Studio and

Travel west to the Lismore Sheep Farm and Wool Shop, a great place for you and the kids to enjoy.

Further on up Route 6 about 2 minutes you'll find The Lavender Farm and retail shop offering all things of a sweet aroma. In season there are local U-picks for blueberries, strawberries and raspberries.

The Immediate Area

You are minutes away from the Cape John wharf and the community of River John. The comunity library offers an excellent website and a free CD giving you a extensive tour of our area.



At the Cape John wharf and in the village you can purchase fresh lobster and scallops in season. You can travel across the Cape to Skinner's Cove. There is a fine beach and small wharf there. You also invited to explore the coastline along the beaches. It's best to walk at low tide with expansive sand giving lots of room to play in safety.

In the village you'll find everything you need with a drug store, a grocery store, 3 churches, a post office, a library with high speed internet, the NS Liquor Commission, 2 corner stores, a fish market, 2 pizza shops, a Canadian and Chinese restaurant, a gas station and several video outlets.

Other local businesses offer a wide variety interests from crafts to river and ocean adventures.

In the community of River John itself you'll find such stops as YardBirds, a studio/workshop and outdoor display of large steel garden sculptures inlaid with stained glass.



The Local Area

Looking for more...visit our Tourist Information Centre or ask us for information on current festivals and events. During the seasons there are many Lobster Suppers, Chicken Barbeques and other 'tasty' events taking place.

West on the Sunrise Trail approximately 20 minutes is the historic Town of Pictou. Pictou offers visitors a selection of fine shops, eating establishes and a vibrate water front. Take in the Ship Hector, a full size replica wooden sailing ship with interpretive displays at the Quay. Also along the waterfront you'll find a lobster hatchery and licensed seaside dining establishments.

East on the Trail approximately the same distance is the Village of Tatamagouche. This small village is big on making you feel at home and has much to offer visitors. Watch for side roads going down to the shore where you find a marina, public beaches and a lobster pound. A great scenic route for a leisurely drive.

On your way to Tatamagouche you'll see side trips to Rushson's Beach a provincial park, the Pork Shop, a great spot to stock up for the barbeque and the Sunrise Golf course on Brule Point. Further on the Sunrise Trail from Tatamagouche you'll find Wallace and then Malagash.
